Choosing
Which practice chanter should I buy for my age?
It mainly depends on the learner's age and hand size:
- Up to about 15: McCallum PC1 or PC2, which have easier finger spacing.
- 16 and over: McCallum PC3 or PC4, which are full size and ready for the pipes.
For a first chanter, plastic is the better choice in Malaysia's heat and humidity. Not sure? Send us the learner's age and we'll confirm.
Which reed fits my chanter?
Practice chanter: we stock Warnock practice chanter reeds.
Pipe chanter: different chanters suit different reeds, so tell us the make and model of your chanter and we'll recommend one that fits. For a first reed, Easy or Medium strength is a sensible start.
Stock & delivery
Do you have it in stock, and how long for made-to-order items?
Many of our items are made to order in Scotland and sell quickly, so we don't always have ready stock. Ask a specialist before you order and we'll confirm what's on the shelf, or give you an estimated date.
- In stock: processed within 2–3 business days of payment.
- Custom-made McCallum instruments: 6–8 weeks from full payment.
- Other made-to-order items: lead times vary by maker, and we'll confirm yours when you ask.
How much is shipping, and how long does it take to Sabah/Sarawak/Brunei?
Shipping is calculated at checkout from the weight of your order. Orders are processed within 2–3 business days of payment, then typically take:
- Peninsular Malaysia: 5–7 business days (express 2–3)
- Sabah and Sarawak: 7–12 business days (express 4–7)
- Brunei: 7–14 business days
Express shipping is available on request. You'll get a tracking number by email once your order is dispatched.
Paying
Can schools and government bodies pay by LO / purchase order?
Yes. We're registered with the Ministry of Finance (MOF 357-02257703) and accept LOs and purchase orders from schools, universities and government bodies. Request an official quotation, issue your LO or PO against it, and pay against our invoice after delivery.
Can I pay in instalments (Atome)?
Yes. Choose Atome at checkout to split your payment into 3 instalments with 0% interest. Atome's own approval and terms apply.
Service & after-sales
Do you service bagpipes I bought elsewhere?
Yes. We service bagpipes of any make, wherever you bought them. A service includes a full inspection, oiling, bag tie-in or fitting, moisture control, and reed set-up and tuning. We'll confirm any parts and costs with you before we start.
Can I return a reed?
An unused reed in its original packaging can be returned within 7 days of receipt, with proof of purchase. For hygiene reasons, reeds and mouthpieces that have been played can't be returned.
Faulty items are always covered, including sale items. If a reed arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we'll replace or refund it, and cover the return shipping.
Do you offer lessons?
Yes. We run bagpipe and drumming classes. Ask a specialist for current class times, levels and fees.
